The Movies of 1980
The decade was only getting underway and already movie screens worldwide were in for some of the most energetic,
humorous, and overly-acted flicks ever. Big dramatic hits of the year were "Ordinary People" and "Raging Bull";
kids everywhere flocked to the theatres to find out that Darth Vader is Luke's father in George Lucas' mega-hit
"The Empire Strike's Back"; director David Lynch was responsible for the super-parodied line "I am not an animal,
I am a human being" in his black and white rendition of "The Elephant Man" and John Travolta rode 'em in "Urban
Cowboy."
