The Movies of 1985
|
As the second half of the greatest decade ever began, movie-goers were treated to several 80s staples -- who
could forget Marty McFly going "Back to the Future" or John Rambo single-handedly rescuing the POWs in "Rambo
- First Blood, Part 2"? Quintessential 80s director John Hughes scored again with the teen-angst classic, "The
Breakfast Club." Harrison Ford, after having been in just about every top-grossing film, was finally given
an Academy Award nomination for his protrayal of policeman John Book in "Witness" (the Academy gave the award
to William Hurt for his performance in "Kiss of the Spider Woman). New-comer Whoopi Goldberg was also
recognized by the Academy in the Spielberg drama "The Color Purple."
