What are we supposed to talk about?

Anything and everything related to the 1980s or about The 80s Server! We're hoping to foster an open discussion area for the visitors of this site to talk about whatever is on their minds. Unfortunately due to the bad manners of several people and the complaints of many of our guests, a new policy was determined to be necessary to ensure that the '80s Server's forum is a pleasant experience for everyone who visited. Therefore, beginning with posts made April 16, 2001, or later, any posts that do not concern the '80s ... posts about current politics and current events that DO NOT relate to the '80s in some form or fashion ... will be subject to deletion. People who require the constant deletion by management will be banned from the forum.

How do I post a message?

1. If you are posting a new message, scroll to the bottom of the directory page or hit the "Post Message" button. If you are following-up to an existing message, scroll to the bottom of the message or hit the "Post FollowUp" button.

2. You will see the following fields to fill in:
   1. Name: Type your name here.
   2. E-mail: Type your complete e-mail address ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]).
   3. Topic: Type the subject of your post. If you are writing a follow-up, this will be automatically filled in for you.
   4. Comments: Type your entire message here. IMPORTANT - You MUST hit <RETURN> at the end of every line or your message will be truncated!
   5. Optional Link URL: If you want to include a link to something on the web, type the URL here.
   6. Link Title: If you listed an URL on the line above, you MUST put a title for that URL here.
   7. Optional Image URL: If you would like a graphic included at the top of your message, put the URL of the graphic here.

3. When you have filled in all the applicable fields, hit the "View Message" button. (If you are posting a followup, hit the "View FollowUp" button.)

4. You will see a preview of your message. If you would like to make changes, hit your browser's back button. If you are happy with your message, hit the "Post Message" button. (Or "Post FollowUp" if your message is a followup.)

5. That's it!

Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts?

No. You can not use HTML tags in any field except body of the message. The maintainer of the script (Eddie!) has the option of allowing or disallowing any HTML in the Message part of your posting. Scoot has configured the script to throw out everything in <>'s. Go, Scooter, go.

Why are there colons in the message when I try to post a followup?

Colons appear in the message dialog box when you try to followup up on a message to indicate that those lines are quoting the previous document.

Where can I get the scripts for this program?
